Géographie
modifierLe village porte le nom du célèbre poète et dramaturge Joomart Bökönbayev (ru)[2]. Il a été fondé en 1912 sous le nom de Koltsovka[3]. c'est le plus grand village de la rive sud du lac Yssyk Koul. Son activité industrielle a décliné après l'effondrement de l'URSS.
