Classification Research Group

Le Classification Research Group (CRG) (en français : Groupe de Recherche sur la Classification) a joué un rôle majeur dans la recherche et la théorie de la classification dans le champ des sciences de l'information et des bibliothèques durant la seconde moitié du XX^e siècle^[1]^,^[2]^,^[3]^,^[4]^,^[5]. Fondé en Angleterre en 1952, le groupe de recherche fut actif jusqu'en 1968, puis a subsisté lors de réunions informelles jusqu'en 1990. Parmi ses membres figuraient Derek Austin (en), Eric Coates, Jason Farradane, Robert Fairthorne, Douglas Foskett (en), Barbara Kyle (en), Derek Langridge, Jack Mills (en), Pauline Atherton Cochrane (en), Phyllis Richmond (en), Bernard Palmer, Jack Wells et Brian Campbell Vickery (en). Les travaux du groupe élaborés par le groupe de recherche ont notamment porté sur la classification à facettes et la théorie des niveaux d'intégration ou niveau d'organisation (en)^[6].
