Ce genre a été décrit par Blackwall en 1841.

Cavator[2] a été placé en synonymie par Thorell en 1870[3].

Urobia[4] a été placé en synonymie par Lehtinen en 1967[5].

Speleocicurina[6] a été placé en synonymie par Ono et Ogata en 2018[7].

Brignoliolus[8] a été élevé au rang de genre par Zonstein et Marusik en 2024[9].
