Conçu et construit par Electric Launch Co, Bayonne, N.J., pour la branche américaine de Panhard & Levassor automobile Co, Paris, France. Lors d'une course en mai 1904, il a fait 25.77 km/h (voir les articles de 1904 dans "The Rudder"). A. C. KREBS, qui est le directeur général des usines Panhard & Levassor, est le promoteur du motonautisme en Europe dès 1895. [1]English: 1904 - the PANHARD II race boat plans.
Designed & built by the Electric Launch Co, Bayonne, N.J., for the American branch of the Panhard & Levassor automobile Co, Paris, France. In a race in May 1904 she made 16.22 M.P.H (see 1904 "The Rudder" articles). A. C. KREBS, who is the general manager of the Panhard & Levassor factories, has been the promoter of motorboating in Europe as soon as 1895. [2] |

Using boats in the collection to show the development of these shapes, and how they fueled innovations in airplane, bus, train, and car design, is a great way to connect the collection to the world outside. A trip to this exhibition would be worth it JUST to see the Panhard. It is so insanely beautiful, and unlike anything else that remains from 1904. It made me completely reconsider what I think of as old-fashioned." |
