This 37 cent United States postage stamp was designed by art director Ethel Kessler, featuring the 1984 lithograph, The Lamp, by Romare Bearden. It illustrates the landmark 1954 Brown v. Board of Education decision by the U.S. Supreme Court, striking down an earlier decision that had permitted school segregation on the basis of race. |
