Description

Description
English: Tudor Open Day display exhibits in the Gardens of Easton Lodge, during a Tudor themed open day presented and re-enacted by 'The Companye of Merrie Folke'.
The gardens are the remains of a 1947 demolished house with estate at Little Easton, Essex, England. Easton Lodge was built by Henry Maynard in 1597. A later-built house, with gardens designed by Harold Peto, was occupied by Frances Evelyn Maynard (1861-1938), Countess of Warwick. Known as the champagne socialist and socialite Daisy Greville, she was born at Easton Lodge, lived there her whole life, and hosted select society weekends and parties for her socialist and literary friends which spilled into the the Peto-designed gardens.
The Gardens, which are Grade II listed in the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of special historic interest in England, are open to the public, and being restored for the "continuing benefit and enjoyment of the public" by a preservation trust with charitable status.
