English: Aerial view of the Woodlands mansion and cemetery in Philadelphia, taken by HABS photographer Jack Boucher in 2003. The Woodlands has been a National Historic Landmark and on the NRHP since December 24, 1967. It is located at 40th Street and Woodland Avenue in the University City neighborhood of West Philly. The mansion was built ca. 1742 and expanded 1787-90, by Andrew Hamilton. The grounds were turned into a cemetery in the 1840s.

• 'Up' in the photograph is West of South-West.
• From the upper left hand corner , you can see the Schylkill River, crossed by the Grey's Ferry Bridge, next to the river are RR tracks (SEPTA, formerly PRR). The mansion is near the top center with the University of the Sciences above and to the right of it. The large complex of buildings below (east of) the Woodlands is the Philadelphia Veterans Administration Medical Center. Buildings of the University of Pennsylvania are can be seen at the bottom of the image; the Department of Biology is on the left and the School of Veterinary Medicine is on the right. The large obelisk in the cemetery is for Dr. Thomas Evans, dentist to Napoleon III.
