English: (Presumably) en:Mollweide projection, based upon 2003-01-01 to 2003-12-31 satellite images of the Earth at night. Images were selected to exclude non-human sources of light, including moonlight and aurora lights. Exact details here. Image and data processing by NOAA's National Geophysical Data Center.
