Mrs Smith died in 1995, aged 102. She lived in this Grade II listed cottage for most of her life until a few months before her death. A fascinating place going back to the Victorian times. The only modern things she brought to the house were electricity, a toilet (which she never used, prefering a bucket in the privvy) and one single cold water tap. She bathed in a tin bath and heated her water on a range. The villagers decided that the place should be preserved as a reminder of a bygone age.
