Hugo Gernsback in his Manhattan apartment is watching a television broadcast from his WRNY station in August 1928. The 1.5 inch square picture is low definition; 48 scan lines at 7.5 frames per second. Hugo is holding the manual synchronization control. A photograph of this scene is on page 422 of this issue.
