This "country farmhouse" is not what it seems. It is in fact an entrance to a two-story underground nuclear bunker in Fife, Scotland. It was built in secrecy and originally controlled a powerful radar that monitored the North Sea and towards the Soviets. Later it was re-purposed as a government headquarters for use during and after a nuclear attack.
After the fall of the Soviet Union there was no further use for it and it was sold off, to become a tourist attraction.
It contains much of the original equipment. Visitors enter through the building, past where there were originally armed guards, down a flight of stairs and along a 100 yard descending passageway. Then going through blast doors you enter the upper level of the self-contained bunker.
There are similar bunkers throughout the UK and many smaller ones.
