Tonight was a bit different as one of my Christmas presents came into play - tickets for the first night of the Coral Players' Championship snooker tournament which this year is in Southport. It meant diving straight from work, via Tesco for a butty, but we got a winning run and were there in good time. Being the first night it was a two table setup, with table 2 running Maguire and Ding, and the main event on table 1 was full marks - Williams and Selby. Unfortunately Mark Williams was having no luck at all tonight, and while the whitewash 6-0 result doesn't really reflect the match, it wasn't that far from it. We waved at Stephen Hendry in the TV box, but I think we could have lived without the smoke machine. The first five minutes of the first frame were played in a light mist! |
