Geysers are hot springs that episodically erupt columns of water. They occur in few places on Earth. The highest concentration of geysers anywhere is at the Yellowstone Hotspot Volcano in northwestern Wyoming, USA.
White Sand Spring is a moderately small, usually inactive geyser in the southwestern part of Black Sand Basin in Yellowstone’s Upper Geyser Basin. The name is in reference to the light-colored, weathered geyserite sediments in the area. The pool is located 44° 27' 41.02" North latitude, 110° 51' 17.75" West longitude - this is just east of the modern tourist boardwalk on the way to Emerald Pool. White Sand Spring has an ovoid basin that can be empty or water-filled, and an irregularly-jagged vent. This photo shows its appearance in August 2011. In summer 2018, White Sand Spring engaged in mildly energetic roiling only. It is occasionally active with long-duration, relatively low spouting.
