Glyptotherium
genre de mammifères
Glyptotherium est un genre fossile de tatous (ordre des Cingulata) de la famille des Chlamyphoridae. Il faisait partie de la mégafaune des Amériques, dont la plupart des représentants ont aujourd’hui disparu, probablement en raison d'une chasse excessive de la fin du Pléistocène supérieur au début de l'Holocène.

modifierLe genre Glyptotherium a été trouvé en 1903 par Henry Fairfield Osborn[1].
Description
modifierGlyptotherium pouvait atteindre une longueur de 2 mètres et un poids de 400 kg, ce qui en faisait l'un des plus grands glyptodontes, après son proche parent Glyptodon et Doedicurus.
