- 1629 : le général géorgien Georges Saakadzé est exécuté par le gouvernement ottoman á Alep.
- 1769 : durant la guerre russo-turque de 1768-1774, les troupes russes et imères assiègent la citadelle de Chorapani. L'intervention des Ottomans et du prince Katsia II de Mingrélie mène à leur défaite.
- 1770 : le général russe Gottlob Curt Heinrich von Tottleben met siège sur la ville portuaire ottomane de Poti, malgré les désaccords stratégiques avec le roi Salomon Ier d'Iméréthie. Cette décision force la rupture des relations entre Salomon et l'armée russe stationnée en Transcaucasie.
- 2020 : durant la guerre du Haut-Karabakh, le Conseil de sécurité nationale de Géorgie proclame la neutralité du pays en interdisant tout transit militaire sur territoire géorgien.
