DeLaurentis is the solo project of French musician, composer, producer and performer Cécile Léogé.

Biography

modifier

Cécile Léogé aka DeLaurentis was born in Toulouse in the south of France. She studied music at the Conservatory and at the University of Mirail. She’s a self taught producer influenced by Laurie Anderson, one of the pioneers of electronic music.

Her home studio activities include keyboards, machines, computers, vocoders and controllers; Ableton's Live Push [1] or Embodme’s Erae Touch[2]. She becomes DeLaurentis; her grandfather’s Tuscan surname that immediately summons the fantastic universe of Italian film producer Dino DeLaurentiis (La Strada, Barbarella, Flash Gordon, Dune…).

Her composition and interpretation are surprisingly powerful : a clever mix of electronic and acoustic music in which voices arise.

Her skills in computer music software allow her unlimited creativity. Her voice lends a very special sensitivity to her compositions.

She’s the conductor of her own electronic orchestra, many of her tracks have been synchronized in advertising and series such as How to get away with murder in 2018[3].

In 2019 she was appointed to compose for the Spring / Summer 2020 Issey Miyake fashion show.

In 2021 she released her debut album UNICA, based on the concept of an electronic dialogue with her digital sister Unica. On that album she collaborates with English producer Dan Black or Jazz pianist Yaron Herman. She also uses the Spotify CTRL laboratory AI on the title “Somewhere in Between”,with the contribution of SKYGGE.[4]

In her live shows she transposes the digital tale of her album Unica into an immersive scenography that caught national and international attention and got her invited on TV sets and talk shows. She performs in France on stages such as the Paris Mama Festival, Les Bars en Trans in Rennes, but also abroad in Spain at BIME, in the United States at NAMM, in China or even in Cuba.

In 2021, she led a TEDx conference in Toulouse [5] at the Halle aux Grains where she presented the relationship she has with her machines and electronic instruments.

She collaborates in 2022 with IRCAM, working on a technology developed by Greg Beller: Virtual Choir. DeLaurentis is a beta tester of that unique software and presented it during ‘Le Forum du Son’ at IRCAM[6] institute in Paris, a UNESCO initiative.
