John Tooby (né en 1952) est un anthropologue américain qui, avec sa femme, la psychologue Leda Cosmides, est un précurseur de la psychologie évolutionniste ^[1]^,^[2].

Biographie

John Tooby a obtenu un doctorat enanthropologie physique en 1989 à l'Université Harvard et est actuellement professeur d'anthropologie à l'Université de Californie à Santa Barbara .

En 1992, avec Leda Cosmides et Jerome Barkow, il publie The Adapted Mind: Evolutionary Psychology and the Generation of Culture. Tooby et Cosmides ont également co-fondé et co-dirigé le Centre UCSB pour la psychologie évolutionniste . Cosmides et Tooby sont co-récipiendaires du Prix Jean Nicod 2020. ^[3]
