A haiqu is a short poem related to quantum technology, based on the Japanese haikus. The word is a portmanteau of the words "Haiku" and "Quantum".

History

modifier

The concept of haiqu was first introduced by LAK in March 2022 when he wrote:

Not zero not one
Rather both at the same time
Superposition

— LAK, I see Haiqus (1st Edition), Haiqu #1

Two qubits far away
Share a common destiny
In entanglement

— LAK, I see Haiqus (1st Edition), Haiqu #2

Structure

modifier

An haiqu must:

  • Follow a pattern of 5-7-5 syllables resulting in three verses
  • Be related to quantum technologies

As opposed to traditional haikus, the guidelines for writing a haiqu are less restrictive:

  • No need to use a cutting word (kireji)
  • No need to mention or understate seasons (kigo)

Contests

modifier

Contests for Haiqus are held regularly, the most famous one being I see more Haiqus (|IC+IQ>) organized by the Quantum Open Haiqu Foundation.
