Al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf ibn Matar (arabe : الحجاج بن يوسف بن مطر) est un mathématicien arabe ayant travaillé à Bagdad au VIIIe – IXe siècle.

Biographie
modifierIl opéra la première traduction arabe des Éléments d'Euclide depuis le grec[1].
Il fit également une seconde traduction améliorée du même livre pour le calife Al-Ma'mun. Il fut un des premiers traducteurs vers l'arabe de l'Almageste de Ptolémée[2],[3], traduction qui aurait eu une influence sur celles postérieures de Ishaq Ibn Hunayn (fils de Hunayn ibn Ishaq) et de Thabit ibn Qurra[4].
Au début du XIIe siècle, Adélard de Bath traduisit la version des Éléments d'al-Ḥajjāj en latin[1].
