You are a patroller and you use SWViewer modifier

Why do you use this tool? What are its advantages and disadvantages for you?

  • Bonjour! Sorry for writing in English, since I don't speak French and barely understand a few words (I saw the message where I got mentioned). I personally think that SWViewer is an efficient web app tool for local and especially, global patrolling. I use it sometimes because I like to revert vandalism and other types of nonconstructive edits globally when I have time and desire to use it.
Also because it only shows edits made by IPs, new and autoconfirmed users with (If I'm not wrong) less than 500 edits. So that it doesn't unnecessarily include good faith edits made by users with over 500 edits or trusted users, in order to find nonconstructive edits more easily in SWViewer's Recent Changes.
You can undo edits that also acts as if it was a real Rollback (unless you are a GR that can use the rollback button everywhere); tag pages for speedy deletion (SWViewer is configured with {{Suppression Immédiate}} here on French Wikipedia); edit source when checking the edit if necessary; an option to report persistent vandalism at GSR, SRG and if possible a local designed page (for French Wikipedia at Wikipédia:Vandalisme en cours); and even undo/rollback with a custom summary that also gives you the option to leave automatically warnings after the revert if you enabled "Warn user", without having to search for the warning Template.
SWViewer is focused on Wikis categorised as "small communities", but you can create filters including other Wikis by you choice in the mix.
If enabled for French Wikipedia, you can press the following summary options that also leaves these warnings and summary (revert summary options marked green on SWViewer are associated with warning templates):
    1. Vandalism (summary after revert: révocation vandalisme) that uses warning templates: {{Test 1}} with page link, if persistant: {{Test 2}} and then {{Test 3}}.
    2. Content removal (summary after revert: suppression injustifiée de contenu) that uses warning templates: {{Retrait injustifié}} with page link.
    3. Test edit (summary after revert: test de débutant, veuillez utiliser le bac à sable) that uses warning templates: {{Test 0}} with page link and also |autre=Votre modification s'apparente à un test de débutant. Vous pouvez utiliser le bac à sable pour vos essais.
    4. Nonsense content (summary after revert: Contenu aberrant) that uses warning templates: {{Test 1}} with page link, if persistant: {{Test 2}} and then {{Test 3}}.
    5. External link in article body (summary after revert: lien externe dans le corps du texte) that uses warning templates: {{LE dans texte}} with page link.
    6. Spam: External links (summary after revert: lien externe non admissible) that uses warning templates: {{Bienvenue spammeur}} with page link, if persistant: {{Bienvenue spammeur 2}} with page link and then {{Bienvenue spammeur 3}} with page link.
    7. Unsourced addition (summary after revert: ajout de contenu non sourcé) that uses warning templates: that uses warning templates: {{Faut sourcer}} with page link, if persistant: {{Faut sourcer 2}} with page link.
    8. Spam: Advertising / Promotion (summary after revert: utilisation de Wikipédia pour la publicité/promotion) that uses warning templates: {{Bienvenue spammeur}} with page link and |spam=oui, if persistant: {{Bienvenue spammeur 2}} with page link and then {{Bienvenue spammeur 3}} with page link.

The negatives in my opinion are:

  1. Unlike LiveRC, in order to access SWViewer, you must have the Rollback button on a Wiki. Otherwise you can't.
  2. If you reload from your browser SWViewer (in case if it runs slowly, lose connection or other reasons), you may lose the edit that you where checking unless you went on the site and it's memorised in the browser history.
  3. If you are patrolling as an Utilisateurs dont les modifications sont vérifiées automatiquement that needs to press on "[Marquer cette page comme relue]" in order to mark the edit as patrolled, you have to do it manually here on the site, since SWViewer will not automatically mark the edit as patrolled after the "pseudo-rollback".
  4. If you want to review edits made by trusted users or users with (If I'm not wrong) over 500 edits, you can't do it with SWViewer as stated above, the Recent Changes and LiveRC would be a better option.

For more informations about SWViewer, you can find it here. I hope that I was clear as possible and that my comment about SWViewer can be useful for your Live RC 2.0 project.
