English: 1959 Simca Aronde "Bacalan" at the Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry, 2009. The model of what was to become the Aronde P60 was approved on 13 March, 1957. A pilot series of 750 copies was built in 1958, but when shown to Simca's CEO, he was outraged and ordered them to disappear immediately. The unfortunate cars were sent to Bordeaux, Bacalan dock, for storage. An agreement was reached to send about 500 of them to Hungary and Czechoslovakia, and another 100 cars for Germany.
The remaining 150 copies ended up being sold towards the end of 1959 to Simca employees, with a little makeover in order not to arouse suspicion, and with a formal prohibition of reselling them - promising instead to bring them back to Poissy, most certainly to be destroyed!
