The New Perry Mason

En France, la série a été diffusée dans les années 1960 sur Télé Monte Carlo (réception hertzienne entre Toulon et Menton) et sur Télé-Luxembourg, puis sur TV Breizh en 2005, et au Québec à partir du 13 septembre 1964 à Télé-Métropole.

Elle a donné lieu à une suite dans les années 1980, l'acteur principal de la première série, Raymond Burr, reprenant son rôle dans la seconde, une vingtaine d'années après la fin de la première.

En 2020, une nouvelle version a vu le jour avec comme acteur principal Matthew Rhys.

Dans les 271 épisodes, sur les accusés par le Procureur, 58% sont des femmes outre le fait que souvent elles seraient aussi complices ou impliquées dans d'autres meurtres. C'est là un biais d'Hollywood alors qu'à l'époque, les femmes représentaient moins de 10% des meurtres (22% en 2024). Autre étrangeté, pas un seul Noir n'y est accusé, et dans toute la série, seuls deux Noirs y font une figuration de moins d'une minute : un expert (S5/ép.29) et une domestique (S6/ép.6). Un épisode entier concerne des Asiatiques (S6/ép.9). Lors des 271 procès, une femme préside une seule fois au tribunal; toutefois les jurys comportent autant de femmes que d'hommes.
