Deploying PageAssessments to French Wikipedia

Hello Framawiki! I hope you don't mind me continually coming to you about French Wikipedia matters... I just know you speak English and are active here :)

Today I wanted to ask if your wiki would be interested in PageAssessments. This is a MediaWiki extension that stores WikiProject assessments in a database so they are machine-readible. For example, XTools Pages Created shows assessments of all the articles created by a user, and XTools Page History shows assessments of an article for each individual WikiProject. Other tools like Pageviews Analysis also show article classifications.

After Page Assessments is deployed, and if your wiki is interested, we could also set up Popular pages bot. With this, you can configure it so that every month, the bot will give the most-viewed pages for a given WikiProject. This can help identify what pages need more attention from editors.

How does it work?

To make it work, you use the parser function {{#assessment: <name of the wikiproject> | <class> | <importance>}}. This goes in your WikiProject meta template, which appears to be Modèle:Wikiprojet (or perhaps the module Module:Wikiprojet). This parser function does not actually render anything, it just tells MediaWiki to store the assessment data. That being said, Page Assessments should not be anything "controversial". It is completely invisible to readers.

Would you mind proposing this to your community? If people are interested, we will deploy the extension, then ask you to update the WikiProject template. There is a Phabricator task at phab:T153393.

Thanks, and look forward to hearing from you!
