The balloon of Paris is a very big tethered balloon ( the biggest in the world ) with serving tourist attraction and advertising support, installed in Paris since 1999 in the park André-Citroën. Conceived and developed by the society Aerophile SA, it received a half million visitors according to this one in ten years.[1].
functioning
modifierThe balloon, filled with 6 000 m3 of helium, is linked up with the soil by a cable, ordered by a hydroelectrical windlass. It boards to thirty passengers in 150 mètres above Paris. There is 32 mètres high, as a building of twelve floors, for 22 mètres of diameter. Called in the past "Aéroparis", it acted as advertising support in Fortis, then from 2002 in Eutelsat. In 2008, it tied a partnership with the Banque populaire and, rechristened « ballon air de Paris », his system of illumination consequently makes change the colors of the balloon according to the quality of the "air ambient" in Paris, measured by Airparif : of green ( good weather ), red ( bad weather ) and it could be orange ( so so ). This system is supplemented by an independent illumination ( LED, visible by day and by night ) pointing out the quality of air with the same colour code close to traffic.
