George Kobaladze

George Kobaladze, né le 24 mai 1976 en Géorgie, est un haltérophile du Québec ayant représenté le Canada dans plusieurs compétitions internationales.

Participant dans la catégorie des super-lourds (plus 105 kg), George Kobaladze a récolté plusieurs médailles et distinctions :

- médaillé d'argent aux championnats panaméricains de 2013 (Margarita, Venezuela)

- médaillé d'argent aux championnats panaméricains de 2012 (Antigua, Guatemala)

- médaillé de bronze aux Jeux Panaméricains de 2011 (Guadalajara, Mexique)

- médaillé de bronze aux Jeux du Commonwealth de 2010 (Delhi, Inde);

Quintuple champion du Canada, chez les plus 105 kg, Kobaladze gagne le titre de Meilleur Athlète chez les hommes - toutes catégories de poids confondues - quatre fois (2013, 2012, 2011, et 2009).

L’athlète est également détenteur des records canadiens dans la catégorie des super-lourds, notamment :

174 kg en arraché

226 kg en épaulé-jeté

400 kg – en combiné

Ces marques ont été réalisées aux championnats canadiens seniors 2013, Edmonton, AB

Kobaladze est le premier haltérophile canadien avoir réussi un combiné de 400 kilos.

Au Festival Sportif Arnold Classique 2013, l’haltérophile de Montréal s’est classé 2e selon le tableau Sinclair (toutes catégories de poids confondues).

Aux championnats du monde de 2013 (Wroclaw, Pologne) George Kobaladze a fini en 11e position.

George Kobaladze

George Kobaladze (born May 24, 1976 in Georgia) is a Canadian weightlifter who attained numerous successes at prestigious international competitions in the super heavyweight category (+ 105 kg), including :

- silver medal at the 2013 Pan American Championships in Isla Margarita, Venezuela;

- silver medal at the 2012 Pan Amercan Championships in Antigua, Guatemala;

- bronze medal at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico;

- bronze medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India

He is also a five-time Canadian champion and four-time Canada’s Best Male Lifter (2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013).

George Kobaladze currently holds the Canadian records in weightlifting’s super heavyweight class, his marks being 174 kg (383.6 pounds) lift in the snatch, 226 kg (498.2 pounds) lift in the clean and jerk for a total of 400 kg (both lifts combined) attained at the 2013 Canadian Championships, Edmonton, AB.

Kobaladze is the first Canadian weightlifter having lifted a 400 kg total.

At the 2013 Arnold’s Classic Sport Festival, George Kobaladze ranked second under Sinclair Formula, which means second in overall ranking.

At the 2013 World Championships held in Wroclaw, Poland, George Kobaladze earned the 11th place.
