CIVIC SERVICE
Introduction The « Civic Service » is a French disposal promoting citizens commitment. It was created by the 10 March 2010 by Martin Hirsch. It was enforced the 13 of May 2010. It aimed to reinforcing national cohesion and to promote social mix.

It offers to young people aged form sixteen years to twenty five years old to perform civil volunteer work during six to 12 months. It be performed in 9 different fields knew as a priority for the nation such as education, solidarity, health, culture, leisure, environment, humanitarian work, citizenship, sport and emergency response during crisis. Since 2015, the “service civique” was enlarged to 30 years old for young disabled people. 75% of young recruits are employed six months after the end of their mission.
Missions
This mission can be realized on two ways: • It lasts from six to twelve months and it is mainly financed by French government. It is aimed at young people aged 16 to 25 years. • Volunteering to civil work. It may last up to two years. Only people aged 26 years old and more are allowed to apply. This kind of mission is not very promoted by the government.
It is opened to all European citizens.

The employers are: • local communities, • Firemen, • Other organisms which received accreditations by public authorities.

Most of recruits are young graduate who didn’t manage to find a job. Every recruit must follow a citizenship education and a first aid education which are compulsory. It occurs during his mission. The young will be advised concerning his reflection about his future.
People who were enrolled at Pole Emploi will keep their status of unemployed. But they will leave category 1 (unemployed people immediately free) to category 4 (unemployed not immediately free). During their mission, the unemployment benefit is adjourned.
There is website created by French government where everybody can find a list of different missions offered[2]. You just have to inform the localization where you want to perform your civil work and which field of work you prefer. Afterward, a list of the missions available appears in front of you.
